Terms of service
In effect from 2026-09-17
1. Who We Are
The “Freak Race” app and the website freakrace.com are operated by TORA events, legal entity code 307394611, located at Savanorių pr. 224-44a, Vilnius, Lithuania, email info@freakrace.com.
In these rules, “we” refers to VšĮ “TORA events,” and “you” or “participant” refers to the person registering for the event.
We are not subject to value-added tax (VAT), so prices are listed exclusive of VAT and no additional VAT is charged.
2. What do these rules mean?
These rules constitute an agreement between you and us. They take effect the moment you register for the event—in the registration window, you confirm that you have read and agree to them.
Along with these terms, our privacy policy applies, which explains what information we collect from you and how we use it.
If you do not understand or do not agree with any provision of these terms, please do not register and contact us at info@freakrace.com—we will respond.
3. What is the Freak Race event?
Freak Race is a real-world orienteering competition in which players, teams, and companies develop strategies, complete creative and orienteering tasks, and compete for the top ranking in the world and substantial cash prizes. Competitions can take place between cities and countries. Participants move around a city or area within a set time frame or interval, complete tasks, and record their progress in the app—entering answers and uploading photos.
This is NOT a digital product, a mobile game, or a subscription. The app is merely a tool: it displays the tasks, accepts submissions, and calculates the results. The service you’re paying for is participation in a specific event on a specific day without any intervention from the organizer, so no permits are required for mass gatherings.
The location, time, duration, price, and nature of the tasks for each event are listed in the app and on the website for that event.
4. Who Can Participate
Adults—people 18 years of age and older—may participate. By registering, you confirm that you are an adult.
To participate, you must be in good enough health to move safely outdoors and perform physical tasks. You are responsible for assessing your own health; we do not require or verify medical certificates.
One account is required per person. Do not share your account information with others—results and payments are linked specifically to that account.
5. Registration, Price, and Payment
The price of each event is listed in the event app and on the website, in euros (EUR), including all taxes. There are no other taxes that have not been announced in advance.
Registration is complete upon payment. An unpaid registration does not reserve a spot at the event and will be automatically canceled after a certain period of time.
Payment process:
- You pay by credit card in the app;
- Payments are processed by “Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd.”—you enter your card details in their window; we do not see or store them;
- Once payment is successful, your registration is confirmed, and you’ll immediately receive a confirmation email;
- We automatically generate and email an invoice for the participation fee; you don’t need to request it separately.
If the payment fails, your registration remains unpaid, and you can try again. A failed payment does not result in any funds being deducted.
6. The registration fee is non-refundable
The participation fee is non-refundable. This applies even if you do not attend the event, withdraw during the event, or your plans change for any reason.
Why there is no 14-day right of withdrawal. When purchasing a service remotely, consumers generally have the right to cancel the contract within 14 days. However, this right does not apply to leisure services provided on a specific date — as stipulated in Article 16(l) of the Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and Article 6.228(10) of the Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania. The Freak Race event takes place on a specific date, so this exception applies to it.
The reason is simple: we prepare the event in advance based on the number of registrants, and a spot that is canceled at the last minute remains vacant.
Transferring Your Spot. If you are unable to participate yourself, please email info@freakrace.com no later than 3 days before the start—whenever possible, we will transfer your spot to another adult of your choice. This is an act of goodwill, not an obligation.
This section does not limit your rights in cases where we do not provide the services—those are described in another section.
7. When we cancel or reschedule an event
If we cancel the event and it does not take place, we will refund the full amount of the participation fee. The refund will be credited to the same card you used for payment no later than 14 days after the cancellation.
If we reschedule the event to another date, your registration will remain valid for the new date. If the new date does not work for you, please email info@freakrace.com within 14 days of receiving notice of the rescheduling, and we will refund the full fee.
If the event has already begun and is interrupted due to weather conditions, a government decision, or any other reason beyond our control, the fee is non-refundable—the service was already being provided at that time. In such cases, we handle each situation individually and try to offer a spot at the next event.
We’ll notify you of any cancellations or rescheduling via email and in the app.
8. Participant Responsibilities and Safety
You participate in this event at your own risk. You will be moving through a public space that we do not control, so you must act cautiously and responsibly.
By participating, you agree to:
- to comply with traffic laws and other applicable laws;
- not to participate while under the influence of alcohol or other substances;
- not to endanger yourself, other participants, or bystanders;
- not to damage other people’s property or litter;
- not to enter private or restricted areas without permission;
- not to photograph people without their consent, unless the task requires it.
No task requires you to break the law or put your health at risk. If a task seems unsafe to you, do not perform it—lose points rather than your health.
9. Completion of Assignments and Photos
You record your task completion in the app. When a task requires a photo, you take it on the spot with your phone’s camera—photos from the gallery are not accepted, so that the same conditions apply to everyone.
By uploading a photo, you confirm that you took it yourself and that it does not include any individuals who did not give their consent.
You grant us the right to use the photos you upload to evaluate the event’s results, share them with other participants of the same event, and for marketing purposes—on social media or our website. If you submit a separate request asking us not to use them, we will not use them.
How we handle photos and other data is described in our privacy policy.
10. Results and Prizes
The app calculates the results according to the rules published for each event, in order of priority: first, the app determines who completed all the tasks. Then, the time it took to complete everything is calculated. Finally, the Freak Race staff manually verifies the answers to the completed tasks and the authenticity of the photos.
A portion of the entry fee goes toward the prize pool if the event specifies this. If not specified, then it may be a fixed prize determined by the organizer. The size of the prize pool and its distribution among the top finishers are announced for each event prior to registration. During the announced event, when participants can register but the physical event is not taking place, the prize pool may be changed from a fixed prize to one calculated based on the number of participant registrations—most often when the organizer wishes to increase the prize pool. In extremely rare cases, the prize pool may be reduced due to a low number of participants.
Prizes depend on participants’ skills, speed, and logical decision-making, not on chance. This is not a game of chance, and there is no lottery element in the event.
We approve the final results. We accept comments regarding the results via email for 7 days after their announcement; after that, the results are considered final.
We will pay out prizes within 30 days of the results being confirmed. The prize may be subject to taxation in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania; when we are required to withhold tax, the prize will be paid out net of such withholding.
11. Unfair behavior
Falsifying results, uploading photos taken by others, using multiple accounts, colluding with other participants to influence the outcome, or interfering with others are grounds for disqualifying a participant from the event and voiding their results.
In such cases, the entry fee will not be refunded, and any prize, if not yet awarded, will not be paid out.
In the event of a gross or repeated violation of the rules, we may prohibit the participant from registering for future events. We will notify the participant of such a decision via email and specify the reason.
12. Our Responsibility
We are responsible for ensuring that the event is organized as advertised and that we treat you fairly.
We are not responsible for:
- any health issues or injuries you may sustain while participating;
- damage to or loss of your personal belongings, including your phone;
- the actions of third parties in public spaces;
- weather conditions and other circumstances beyond our control;
- malfunctions of your phone, internet connection, or your service provider.
If you suffer any losses due to our fault, our liability is limited to the amount of the participation fee you paid for that event.
These limitations do not apply in cases where the law does not permit the limitation of liability—such as for injury to health or life, or for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. These rules do not limit your rights as a consumer.
13. Complaints and Disputes
If something went wrong, please contact us first at info@freakrace.com. We will respond within 14 days of receiving your complaint.
If you are not satisfied with our response, as a consumer, you may contact the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority (Vilniaus g. 25, Vilnius, www.vvtat.lt) or submit a request via the online consumer dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Lithuania. This does not affect the protection afforded to you by the consumer protection laws of your country of residence.
14. Changes to the Rules
We may amend these rules—for example, if the service or applicable laws change. The amended version will be posted on this page, and the effective date will be indicated at the top of the page.
The version of these rules that was published at the time of your registration applies to your registration. Subsequent changes do not alter the terms of the contract that has already been entered into.
